At PJSC “Ilyich Iron & Steel Works” an affiliate of “Metinvest Group” every year increases the quantity of young workers and specialists. Within the framework of the program “Youth - 2013” about 350 graduates of educational establishments of Mariupol were employed by the Works.
In order to raise the prestige of profession of metallurgist among the young people, the Works in cooperation with Priazovskiy State Technical University successfully implements an innovative educational project “Ilyich outlook”.
Contributing to the preparation of young skilled personnel in the educational establishments of Mariupol the Works aims the graduates at the further labor cooperation, giving them their first working place. Since the beginning of this project were employed more than 9 thousand of graduates from different higher education establishments, technical schools, colleges, basic professional higher school of metallurgy of Mariupol and other vocational schools of the city. This year at the Works began their career 22 graduates from Priazovskiy State Technical University, 47 graduates from colleges, 16 graduates from vocational schools, and 261 graduates from Basic Professional Higher School of Metallurgy of Mariupol. They were employed in the principal shops according to the demand of the Works.
The aim of the joint innovative educational project “Ilyich outlook” is to prepare highly skilled specialists demanded by the Works, adapted to the current conditions of production processes, able to work in the media of intense competition. In 2014 within the framework of the project “Ilyich outlook” we are expecting for 24 graduates and in 2015 for 40 graduates. In order to promote the quality of education the best students of the project will get special “Ilyich grants”.
Realization of the programs qualitatively rejuvenated the personnel of the Works, had a positive impact on promotion of young specialists to the executive positions. During the period of realization of the program “Youth” 1600 graduates from higher education establishments were employed by the Works, 527 among them currently occupy executive positions.
“Corporative training of specialists of engineering and working professions taking into account staffing needs of the Works is economically sound. But besides that these projects are based on social factor. We would like to encourage our youth, to give them a possibility to make consciously estimable choice of profession, we give them working places. After they became a part of big family of metallurgists our youth must be proud of their profession. And it is necessary that they keep the labor traditions due to which “Ilyich Iron & Steel Works” is famous”, emphasized General Director of PJSC “Ilyich Iron & Steel Works” Yuriy Zinchenko.

PJSC «Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol» is one of the greatest enterprises in Ukraine with full metallurgical cycle. The Works produces pipes and flat rolled products of carbon, low-alloy and alloy steels for different applications: hot-rolled plates and sheets intended for the production of pipes for main pipelines, ships, pressure vessels, bridge constructions, other metal constructions for critical application; hot-rolled plates, sheets and strips including pickled; cold-rolled, including galvanized, bands, sheets and strips, including for cold stamping, flooring and others; thick-walled pipes including for oil pipe lines; water- and gas-supply welded thin-walled pipes of circular section and structural pipes of rectangular section; flasks for different compressed gases, including automobile and others.
50 certificates issued by seven International Certification Bodies and Ukraine Certification Centers confirm the high quality of the metal products of 200 steel grades produced at the Works. Quality Management System functions at the PJSC «Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol» developed and certified according to the requirements of ISO 9001.
Production facilities of the Works allow to produce about 6,1 million tons of steel per year, 12 million tons of agglomerate, more than 5,5 million tons of pig-iron, more than 6,1 million tons of steel including converter steel – 3,6 million tons, more than 5 million tons of finished rolled products.METINVEST is an international vertical-integrated mining-and-metallurgical Group of companies, which runs assets in every link of production chain from iron-ore and coal mining till semi-finished and finished metal products manufacture.
