Heating furnace No5 at the Rolling Mill 1700 of “ Ilyich Iron & Steel Works”, an affiliate of Metinvest Holding was shut down for the capital repair of 45 days within the framework of realization of the complex program for reconstruction and modernization. The sum of investments amounts to 12,5 M UAH.
The main types of works to be done during the repair are : lining reconditioning, skid rails, burners, riders and circuits replacement, cooling system repair, furnace and water-cooled skids shell replacement. Renovation of the technologic unit will be carried out by the overhaul shops of the Works.
“Rolling Mill 1700 is one of the priority strategic objects of reconstruction of “Ilyich Iron & Steel Works” foreseen for the medium-term prospect. Currently the main attention is paid to renovation and technical upgrading of the existing facilities, - First Deputy General Director, Chief Engineer of PJSC “Ilyich Iron & Steel Works” Sergey Matvienkov. Renovation of the heating furnace No5 will allow to improve the quality and to decrease power inputs for hot-rolled steel plate production”.
