“Ilyich Iron and Steel Works” of Mariupol, one of Metinvest Group companies, started realization of an investment project on revamping technical water supply systems of main manufacturing shops.
For the moment design and survey works are being completed on topic “Laying makeup water conduits Du=800 mm from pump station No.3 of the second lift to pump station No.8”. Above 1.6 million dollars have already been invested into execution of the works.
The new makeup water conduit laying project provides for communications carry-over from underground tunnels to overhead passing. Engineering-geological and geodesic surveys have already been done which required involvement of expert designers from state-run enterprise “Ukrgipromez” (Dnipropetrovsk). The institute is to issue a full work paper package and to suggest engineering solutions on building procedure till the end of March.
“The task of lifting above all underground communications is set in front of the Works,” Sergey Matvienkov, first deputy general director – chief engineer, says. “This will give us significant benefits in the company’s networks operation and maintenance, thus increasing their efficiency. At the same time a complete realization of the makeup water conduit laying investment project will allow to remove of service emergency water conduits and to prevent the hazard of Heat and Power Station-1 and Blast Furnace Shop shutdowns.”
